| 40 | 40 | | ‘retired law enforcement officer’ means an individual 11 |

| 41 | 41 | | who separated from service in good standing as a 12 |

| 42 | 42 | | law enforcement officer in an official capacity at a 13 |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | public agency with or without compensation. 14 |

| 45 | 45 | | LIGIBILITY.—A retired law enforcement 15 |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | officer shall be eligible for a benefit under this part 16 |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | if the officer died or became permanently and totally 17 |
|---|
| 48 | 48 | | disabled as the direct and proximate result of a per-18 |
|---|
| 49 | 49 | | sonal injury resulting from a targeted attack be-19 |
|---|
| 50 | 50 | | cause of the retired law enforcement officer’s service 20 |
|---|
| 51 | 51 | | as a law enforcement officer.’’. 21 |
