1016 9 This bill creates a Utah Archaeological and Historic Sites Assistance Grant Program.

2632 25Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:

2735 26 Section 1. Section 9-8-906 is enacted to read:
2836 27 9-8-906. Utah Archaeological and Historic Sites Grant Program.
2937 28 (1) The office shall:
30-29 (a) administer the money contained in the grant program; and H.B. 482 Enrolled Copy

38+29 (a) administer the money contained in the grant program; and
3239 30 (b) select qualified recipients in accordance with Subsection (2).
3340 31 (2) The office may distribute the money from the grant program to a private landowner:
3441 32 (a) that applies to the office, in a manner prescribed by the office, to receive all or part
3542 33of the money contained in the grant program; and
3643 34 (b) for identifying and protecting archaeological resources on the landowner's property,
3744 35if the private landowner contributes an amount of money equal to or greater than the amount of
3845 36money the landowner receives from the grant program.
3946 37 Section 2. Appropriation.
4047 38 The following sums of money are appropriated for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
4148 392023, and ending June 30, 2024. These are additions to amounts previously appropriated for
4249 40fiscal year 2023. The Legislature has reviewed the following expendable funds. The Legislature
4350 41authorizes the State Division of Finance to transfer amounts between the following funds or
4451 42accounts as indicated. Outlays and expenditures from the funds or accounts to which the money
4552 43is transferred may be made without further legislative action, in accordance with statutory
4653 44provisions relating to the funds or accounts.
