8General Description:
9 This bill amends provisions related to state pay plans.
10Highlighted Provisions:
11 This bill:
12 <defines terms; and
13 <requires the division director of the Division of Human Resource Management to:
14 Cestablish specialized state pay plans for transportation technicians in the
15Department of Transportation that include certain information about salary
16range, qualifications, training, performance evaluation, and promotion; and
17 Cinclude recommendations on funding and salary increases for transportation
18technicians in the division director's annual compensation plan to the governor.

27Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:

28 Section 1.  Section 63A-17-307.5 is enacted to read:
29 63A-17-307.5. State pay plans for transportation technicians in the Department of
30Transportation.
31 (1)  As used in this section, "transportation technician" means an employee of the
32Department of Transportation who is designated as a transportation technician.
33 (2)  The division director shall:
34 (a)  establish a specialized state pay plan for transportation technicians that:
35 (i)  meets the requirements of Section 63A-17-307;
36 (ii)  distinguishes the salary range for each transportation technician classification;
37 (iii)  includes for each transportation technician:
38 (A)  the minimum qualifications; and
39 (B)  any training requirements; and
40 (iv)  provides standards for:
41 (A)  performance evaluation; and
42 (B)  promotion; and
43 (b)  include, in the plan described in Subsection 63A-17-307(4), recommendations on
44funding and salary increases for transportation technicians.
