General Description:

This bill modifies the Architects Licensing Act.

This bill:

▸ narrows the scope of unlawful conduct for individuals engaging in architecture; and

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the state of Utah:

Section 1.  Section 58-3a-501 is amended to read:
20 
58-3a-501 . Unlawful conduct.
21 
      "Unlawful conduct" includes:
22 
(1) except as provided in Subsection 58-3a-304(1), using the title "architect" or any other
23 
words, letters, or abbreviations indicating that the person using them is an architect if the
24 
person has not been licensed under this chapter, except as provided in Subsection
25 
58-3a-304(1); or
26 
(2) engaging in or representing itself as engaging in the practice of architecture as a
27 
corporation, proprietorship, partnership, or limited liability company unless exempted
28 
from licensure under Section 58-1-307 or 58-3a-304. H.B. 114	Enrolled Copy

(3) Using derivations of the word architecture is not a violation when describing services or
30 
work within the practice of architecture as defined by Section 58-3a-102 and as
31 
authorized in Section 58-3a-304.

Section 2.  Effective date.
33 
This bill takes effect on May 7, 2025.
