HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 573

Commending Computer CORE.

WHEREAS, Computer CORE, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Alexandria, has dedicated itself to promoting digital equity and inclusion for underserved communities in Northern Virginia since its founding in 1999; and

WHEREAS, over the past 25 years, Computer CORE has empowered thousands of individuals in Northern Virginia by providing computer literacy training and refurbished computers to adults, fostering economic mobility by bridging the digital divide; and

WHEREAS, Computer CORE provides free online computer skills classes and free refurbished computers to more than 700 adults across Virginia every year; and

WHEREAS, through its computer donation program, Computer CORE has significantly enhanced access to vital technology resources for individuals and families in need; and

WHEREAS, Computer CORE's programs, including computer skills classes and refurbished computer distribution, are made possible through the dedication of nearly 100 volunteers each year; and

WHEREAS, Computer CORE's adult students gain not only critical digital skills, but also independence, confidence, and hope for a brighter future, demonstrating how the organization can transform lives; and

WHEREAS, Computer CORE continues to empower those most in need of computer skills training, ensuring that adults are not left behind in an increasingly digital world; and

WHEREAS, Computer CORE has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to collaboration by partnering with local governments, businesses, and fellow nonprofit organizations to enhance its mission; and

WHEREAS, Computer CORE exemplifies innovation, compassion, and leadership in addressing digital inequity across the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Computer CORE for its transformative impact on the lives of individuals and families in Northern Virginia on the occasion of its 25th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Computer CORE as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organizations vital mission and contributions to the advancement of computer literacy.
