Commending Thelma R. Pemberton-Abbott.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 21, 2025
WHEREAS, Thelma R. Pemberton-Abbott, an instructional assistant at Mount Vernon Woods Elementary School was named an Outstanding School-Based Operational Employee by Fairfax County Public Schools in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Thelma Pemberton-Abbott has devoted 25 years to Mount Vernon Woods Elementary School as an instructional assistant, providing exemplary support to facilitate class management and small-group instruction; and
WHEREAS, Thelma Pemberton-Abbott works tirelessly to help her students achieve their full academic potential while demonstrating great concern for their physical, social, and emotional well-being; and
WHEREAS, Thelma Pemberton-Abbott is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive community that facilitates positive and meaningful relationships, cultivates a sense of belonging, and encourages both students and staff to thrive; and
WHEREAS, Thelma Pemberton-Abbott readily offers support to her fellow faculty members and nurtures collaboration, contributing greatly to their accomplishments in the classroom; and
WHEREAS, with an unwavering commitment to her students and fellow staff, Thelma Pemberton-Abbott has embodied the ideals of the education profession, earning the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Thelma R. Pemberton-Abbott hereby be commended for being named a 2024 Outstanding School-Based Operational Employee; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Thelma R. Pemberton-Abbott as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for her contributions to Fairfax County and the Commonwealth.
