2025 SESSION ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 189 Celebrating the life of Robert Douglas Wright. Agreed to by the Senate, January 16, 2025 WHEREAS, Robert Douglas Wright, a highly admired member of the Staunton community, died on March 4, 2023; and WHEREAS, Douglas Doug Wright was born to David and Patricia Wright of Stanley and graduated from Luray High School; he continued his education by earning a bachelor's degree from Radford University; and WHEREAS, Doug Wright spent more than 10 years of his career at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind, where he played a vital role as the information technology director; and WHEREAS, Doug Wright upheld the highest standards of information security to protect the data of students, teachers, and other stakeholders; and WHEREAS, Doug Wright was committed to the mission and vision of the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind and worked diligently to meet the unique needs of the agency, while ensuring that students received the best possible education; and WHEREAS, Doug Wright was a trusted friend and mentor to his co-workers and respected as a critical member of the team at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind; and WHEREAS, Doug Wright will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Megan Bright; his son, David Wright; his sister, Jennifer Wright; his nephew, Conner Good; numerous aunts and uncles, including Gloria and Al Jones; several cousins, including an especially close cousin, Shawn Jones; and many other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Robert Douglas Wright; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Robert Douglas Wright as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for his memory.
