1717 Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
1818 Under the environmental improvement fund, the state provides financial
1919 assistance to local governmental units for certain projects. The environmental
2020 improvement fund is made up of three programs: the clean water fund program; the
2121 safe drinking water loan program; and the land recycling (brownfields) loan
2222 program, which provides financial assistance for the investigation and remediation
2323 of certain contaminated properties.
2424 The bill eliminates the land recycling loan program, which has not provided
2525 loans since 2008. Under the bill, current law provisions continue to apply to any
2626 outstanding loans under the program that are in repayment. The bill also requires
2727 any unallocated balance of moneys appropriated to the land recycling loan program
2828 to be transferred to the clean water fund program and requires any moneys received
