12-tion and employment, money management, saving and
13-investing, credit and debt, and risk management and
14-insurance.

15+AN ACT to create 118.33 (1) (a) 1. f. of the statutes; relating to: requiring
16+one-half credit of personal financial literacy for high school graduation.

18+Under current law, a school board may grant a high school diploma to a pupil
19+only if the pupil meets specific statutory requirements, including earning a certain
20+number of credits in various subjects in the high school grades. Beginning with
21+pupils graduating in 2028, this bill requires that, to graduate high school, a pupil
22+must earn at least one-half credit of personal financial literacy that includes
23+financial mindset, education and employment, money management, saving and
24+investing, credit and debt, and risk management and insurance.

27+The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
28+enact as follows:
29+SECTION 1. 118.33 (1) (a) 1. f. of the statutes is created to read:

1541 SECTION 2.0Initial applicability.
16-(1)  This act first applies to pupils graduating from
17-high school in 2028.
18-*  Section 991.11,  WISCONSIN STATUTES:   Effective date of acts.  “Every act and every portion of an act enacted by the legislature over the governor’s
19-partial veto which does not expressly prescribe the time when it takes effect shall take effect on the day after its date of publication.”
