The law specifies multiple options for combinations of individuals to staff the ambulance. One of the options is available only if the ambulance is a fixed-wing airplane and the sick, disabled, or injured individual is a pediatric patient who is being transferred from one hospital to another hospital. 2023 WISCONSIN ACT 176 2023 Wisconsin Act 176 authorizes a certain ambulance staffing combination option for an ambulance that is an aircraft, rather than a fixed-wing airplane. Specifically, if an ambulance is an aircraft and the sick, disabled, or injured individual is a pediatric patient who is being transferred from one hospital to another hospital, then one option for a combination of individuals who must be present in the ambulance is one emergency medical services practitioner, licensed registered nurse, licensed physician assistant or physician, plus one certified respiratory care practitioner.
