1010 AN ACT to repeal 41.11 (5), 41.12 (3) and 41.24 (3); and to amend 41.11 (1) (h)
1111 of the statutes; relating to: modifying the Department of Tourism's reporting
1212 duties and repealing requirements to distribute cheese, submit a financial
1313 statement, and use famous residents in marketing.
1414 Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
1515 This bill makes several changes to laws administered by the Department of
1616 Tourism.
1717 The bill modifies the requirement imposed under current law that the
1818 department annually report on its activities to the Senate Natural Resources
1919 Committee and the Assembly Committee on T ourism. Under the bill, the
2020 department is directed to report to the appropriate standing committees of the
2121 legislature, rather than the specifically named committees.
2222 Additionally, the bill repeals the following three provisions:
2323 1. The requirement that the department distribute donated cheese that is made
2424 in Wisconsin at tourist information centers. The department no longer operates
2525 tourist information centers.
2626 2. The requirement that the Council on Tourism consider the use of famous
2727 Wisconsin residents and former residents in tourism marketing strategies.
2828 3. The requirement that WPGA Junior Foundation, Inc., annually submit to
2929 the attorney general and the legislature an audited financial statement on the

3636 foundation's use of the contributions it receives when drivers purchase a special Golf
3737 Wisconsin license plate.
3838 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
3939 enact as follows:
4040 SECTION 1. 41.11 (1) (h) of the statutes is amended to read:
4141 41.11 (1) (h) Annually report to the senate natural resources committee and
4242 the assembly committee on tourism appropriate standing committees of the
4343 legislature under s. 13.172 (3) the activities, marketing efforts, receipts, and
4444 disbursements of the department for the previous fiscal year. The report under this
4545 paragraph shall include information on the marketing efforts conducted for the
4646 Frank Lloyd Wright Trail established under s. 84.10255.
4747 SECTION 2. 41.11 (5) of the statutes is repealed.
4848 SECTION 3. 41.12 (3) of the statutes is repealed.
4949 SECTION 4. 41.24 (3) of the statutes is repealed.
