| 12 | 12 | | Under current law, the secretary of administration must establish a committee |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | for each construction project under the Department of Administration's supervision, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | except certain emergency projects, for the purpose of selecting an architect or |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | engineer for the project. If the estimated cost of a construction project is $7,400,000 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | or more, the selection committee must use a request-for-proposal process |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | established by DOA to select an architect or engineer for the project on the basis of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | qualifications. This bill prohibits such a committee from refusing to select an |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | architect or engineer who operates an architect and engineering firm with only one |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | responsible architect or engineer for a construction project that has an estimated cost |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | of less than $2,000,000. The bill also allows DOA to increase this threshold up to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | $7,400,000. |
