11	11	AN ACT to amend 27.01 (7) (d); and to create 27.01 (7) (cm) of the statutes;
12	12	relating to: annual vehicle admission receipt validity period.

14	14	This bill provides that vehicle admission receipts issued by the Department of
15	15	Natural Resources are valid for approximately one year, rather than only during the
16	16	calendar year in which they were issued.
17	17	Under current law, no person may operate a vehicle in any state park or in
18	18	certain other recreational areas on state land unless the vehicle displays a vehicle
19	19	admission receipt. Current law requires DNR to issue an annual vehicle admission
20	20	receipt that is valid for the calendar year for which it is issued. Under the bill,
21	21	beginning in 2025, DNR must design the annual vehicle admission receipt to display
22	22	each month of the year in a manner that allows the department to indicate the month
23	23	in which the receipt is issued. The bill provides that a vehicle admission receipt is
24	24	valid until the final day of the 12th month following the month in which it is issued.

27	27	The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
28	28	enact as follows:
29	29	SECTION 1. 27.01 (7) (cm) of the statutes is created to read:

35	35	27.01 (7) (cm) Design of annual vehicle admission receipt. The annual vehicle
36	36	admission receipt shall display the year in which it is issued and the name of each
37	37	month of the year in a manner that allows the department to indicate the month in
38	38	which it is issued as required under par. (d).
39	39	SECTION 2. 27.01 (7) (d) of the statutes is amended to read:
40	40	27.01 (7) (d) Issuance of vehicle admission receipts. An annual vehicle
41	41	admission receipt shall be issued by the department, shall indicate the month in
42	42	which it is issued, and is valid for the calendar year for until the final day of the 12th
43	43	month following the month in which it is issued. An annual vehicle admission receipt
44	44	may not be issued by the department for a motor bus. A daily vehicle admission
45	45	receipt shall be issued by the department, shall state the date for which it is issued
46	46	and is effective only for the date issued.
47	47	SECTION 3.0Effective date.
48	48	(1) This act takes effect on January 1, 2025.
