1010 AN ACT to amend 943.87 of the statutes; relating to: robbery of a financial
1111 institution and providing a penalty.
1212 Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
1313 Under current law it is a Class C felony to, by use of force or threat to use
1414 imminent force, take property from an individual that is owned or under the custody
1515 or control of a financial institution. This bill provides that it is also a Class C felony
1616 to take such property by creating circumstances that would cause a reasonable
1717 person to believe use of force was imminent. A Class C felony is punishable by
1818 imprisonment for up to 40 years or a fine of up to $100,000, or both.
1919 Because this bill creates a new crime or revises a penalty for an existing crime,
2020 the Joint Review Committee on Criminal Penalties may be requested to prepare a
2121 report.
2222 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2323 enact as follows:
2424 SECTION 1. 943.87 of the statutes is amended to read:
2525 943.87 Robbery of a financial institution. Whoever by use of force or threat
2626 to use imminent force, or by creating circumstances that would cause a reasonable
