14	14	statutes; relating to: permits for certain oversize or overweight vehicles
15	15	transporting forest products.
16	16	Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
17	17	Under current law, with limited exceptions, no person may operate on a
18	18	highway any vehicle or combination of vehicles that exceeds certain statutory limits
19	19	on size, weight, or load unless that person possesses a permit issued by the
20	20	Department of Transportation. Currently, DOT may issue an annual or consecutive
21	21	month permit for an oversize or overweight vehicle to transport loads within 11 miles
22	22	of the Wisconsin-Michigan state line and on specifically designated highways, if the
23	23	vehicle does not violate length or weight limitations under Michigan law (commonly
24	24	known as the Michigan border permit).
25	25	This bill adds the following highway segments to the Michigan border permit:
26	26	1. STH 70, from the junction with westbound STH 139 in Florence County to
27	27	the junction with STH 13 in the town of Fifield.
28	28	2. STH 54, from the junction with CTH S in Outagamie County to the junction
29	29	with STH 55 in the town of Oneida in Outagamie County.
30	30	3. STH 32, from the junction with STH 64 in Oconto County to Cottonwood
31	31	Lane three-quarters of a mile southeast of the village of Suring.

57	57	SECTION 1. 348.27 (9) (a) 3. g. of the statutes is amended to read:
58	58	348.27 (9) (a) 3. g. STH 13, from the junction of USH 2 and STH 13 in the city
59	59	of Ashland to the northernmost intersection of STH 13 and Old Airport Road CTH
60	60	“C” in Ashland County.
61	61	SECTION 2. 348.27 (9) (a) 3. gm. of the statutes is created to read:
62	62	348.27 (9) (a) 3. gm. STH 13, from the junction of STH 13 and STH 70 in the

140	140	(1) Notwithstanding s. 13.096 (2), the department of transportation may not
