1111 AN ACT to renumber and amend 59.53 (3); and to create 59.53 (3) (c) of the
1212 statutes; relating to: county assistance to certain nonprofit organizations.

1414 This bill authorizes a county to appropriate money to a nonprofit organization
1515 that operates a food bank or food pantry in the county.
1616 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
1717 enact as follows:
1818 SECTION 1. 59.53 (3) of the statutes is renumbered 59.53 (3) (intro.) and
1919 amended to read:
2020 59.53 (3) COMMUNITY ACTION AND NONPROFIT AGENCIES. (intro.) The board may
2121 appropriate funds for promoting any of the following purposes:
2222 (a) Promoting and assisting any community action agency under s. 49.265, and
2323 for making.
2424 (b) Making payments to a nonprofit organization, as defined in s. 23.197 (4) (a)
2525 1., that has as a primary purpose providing assistance to individuals who are the

3838 victims of domestic violence and related crimes. The county may also appropriate
3939 money for making payments to such a nonprofit organization for its capital and
4040 operational expenses.
4141 SECTION 2. 59.53 (3) (c) of the statutes is created to read:
4242 59.53 (3) (c) Making payments to a nonprofit organization, as defined in s.
4343 23.197 (4) (a) 1., whose primary purpose is to operate a food bank or food pantry and
4444 who serves the county as part of that operation.
