2023 Wisconsin Act 2
[2023 Assembly Bill 67]
Wisconsin Merit Scholarships
Under a statute enacted in 2018, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin (UW) System has
awarded merit-based $5,000 scholarships to students enrolled in two- or four-year UW System schools
who have graduated from an in-state high school or been granted a high school diploma by the
administrator of an in-state, home-based private educational program.
1
Under the terms of that statute,
the authority to award these scholarships expired on April 1, 2023.
2023 Wisconsin Act 2 eliminates the statutory sunset provision, thus allowing the Board of Regents to
continue awarding these scholarships.
Effective date: April 7, 2023
