2023 Assembly Bill 74
Assembly
Amendment 1
BACKGROUND
Federal law allows a state to issue a restricted commercial driver’s license (CDL) to a seasonal employee
of a farm service industry
1
employer. The restricted CDL may be used to operate only certain classes of
commercial motor vehicle and only in certain locations. The restricted CDL must be limited to a
seasonal period as established by the state, but not to exceed 21o days in any calendar year.
Wisconsin issues the restricted CDL by attaching an “F” endorsement to a regular driver’s license.
Currently, the seasonal period for an “F” endorsement may not exceed 180 days.
2023 ASSEMBLY BILL 74
2023 Assembly Bill 74 increases to 210 days the maximum length of the seasonal period for an “F”
endorsement.
