1212 Relating to: proclaiming November 13 to 19, 2023 as Wisconsin Apprenticeship
1313 Week.
1414 Whereas, each November the nation and Wisconsin celebrate Apprenticeship
1515 Week to raise awareness of this career pathway for individuals to start a career in
1616 this state; and
1717 Whereas, Wisconsin has a rich tradition of promoting apprenticeship training
1818 as the first state to create a registered apprenticeship law, which is seen as a national
1919 model for other states, and as one of the first in the nation to create a youth
2020 apprenticeship program to help students gain experience while still in school; and
2121 Whereas, Wisconsin continues to set records for the number of registered
2222 apprentices, which hit a record high in 2022 with nearly 16,000, and the same is true
2323 for the youth apprenticeship program with over 8,300 students participating with
2424 5,700 employers; and
2525 Whereas, apprenticeship in Wisconsin has expanded to nearly all industries,
2626 including agriculture, finance, transportation, health care, and construction and is

4747 Whereas, the apprenticeship model continues to help Wisconsin address the
4848 workforce shortage by helping employers train and hire the workers they need to
4949 keep Wisconsin's economic engine moving forward; now, therefore, be it
5050 Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
5151 State Legislature hereby recognizes the week of November 13 to 19, 2023, as
5252 Wisconsin Apprenticeship Week.
