88 Relating to: recognizing September 25, 2024 as See You at the Pole Day in the state
99 of Wisconsin.
1010 Whereas, See You at the Pole Day began in 1990 as a grassroots movement; and
1111 Whereas, millions of students still celebrate See You at the Pole Day by meeting
1212 at their respective school's flagpole to gather for prayer; and
1313 Whereas, such a prayer rally is led, organized, and initiated by students of their
1414 respective schools; and
1515 Whereas, the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment establishes a freedom to
1616 exercise religion in the public sector; and
1717 Whereas, those same religious rights are enshrined in Article I, Section 18 of
1818 the Wisconsin State Constitution; and
1919 Whereas, Wisconsin State Statute section 118.13 provides that public officials,
2020 employees, and teachers may not intentionally discriminate against their students

3838 Whereas, prayer is a way to unite communities around common values and
3939 expressed beliefs; and
4040 Whereas, See You at the Pole Day is held annually on the fourth Wednesday of
4141 September; now, therefore, be it
4242 Resolved by the assembly, That the Assembly does recognize September 25,
4343 2024, as See You at the Pole Day in the state of Wisconsin and encourages prayer
4444 rallies by students at their respective schools.
