Relating to: recognizing September 25, 2024 as See You at the Pole Day in the state
of Wisconsin.
Whereas, See You at the Pole Day began in 1990 as a grassroots movement; and
Whereas, millions of students still celebrate See You at the Pole Day by meeting
at their respective school's flagpole to gather for prayer; and
Whereas, such a prayer rally is led, organized, and initiated by students of their
respective schools; and
Whereas, the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment establishes a freedom to
exercise religion in the public sector; and
Whereas, those same religious rights are enshrined in Article I, Section 18 of
the Wisconsin State Constitution; and
Whereas, Wisconsin State Statute section 118.13 provides that public officials,
employees, and teachers may not intentionally discriminate against their students
for purposes religious or otherwise; and

Whereas, prayer is a way to unite communities around common values and
expressed beliefs; and
Whereas, See You at the Pole Day is held annually on the fourth Wednesday of
September; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, That the Assembly does recognize September 25,
2024, as See You at the Pole Day in the state of Wisconsin and encourages prayer
rallies by students at their respective schools.
