1414 AN ACT to create 118.33 (1) (a) 1. f. of the statutes; relating to: requiring
1515 one-half credit of personal financial literacy for high school graduation.
1616 Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
1717 Under current law, a school board may grant a high school diploma to a pupil
1818 only if the pupil meets specific statutory requirements, including earning a certain
1919 number of credits in various subjects in the high school grades. Beginning with
2020 pupils graduating in 2028, this bill requires that, to graduate high school, a pupil
2121 must earn at least one-half credit of personal financial literacy that includes
2222 financial mindset, education and employment, money management, saving and
2323 investing, credit and debt, and risk management and insurance.

2626 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2727 enact as follows:
2828 SECTION 1. 118.33 (1) (a) 1. f. of the statutes is created to read:
2929 118.33 (1) (a) 1. f. At least 0.5 credit of personal financial literacy that includes
3030 financial mindset, education and employment, money management, saving and
3131 investing, credit and debt, and risk management and insurance.

4040 SECTION 2.0Initial applicability.
4141 (1) This act first applies to pupils graduating from high school in 2028.
