1313 AN ACT to amend 29.185 (1m) of the statutes; relating to: establishing a
1414 statewide wolf population goal.

1616 Current law requires the Department of Natural Resources to implement a wolf
1717 management plan. This bill requires DNR to establish a statewide wolf population
1818 goal in its wolf management plan.
1919 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2020 enact as follows:
2121 SECTION 1. 29.185 (1m) of the statutes is amended to read:
2222 29.185 (1m) DEPARTMENT AUTHORITY. If the wolf is not listed on the federal
2323 endangered list and is not listed on the state endangered list, the department shall
2424 allow the hunting and trapping of wolves and, shall regulate such hunting and
2525 trapping as provided in this section, and shall implement a wolf management plan
2626 that establishes a statewide wolf population goal. In regulating wolf hunting and
