1111 Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
1212 Under current law it is a Class C felony to, by use of force or threat to use
1313 imminent force, take property from an individual that is owned or under the custody
1414 or control of a financial institution. This bill provides that it is also a Class C felony
1515 to take such property by creating circumstances that would cause a reasonable
1616 person to believe use of force was imminent. A Class C felony is punishable by
1717 imprisonment for up to 40 years or a fine of up to $100,000, or both.
1818 Because this bill creates a new crime or revises a penalty for an existing crime,
1919 the Joint Review Committee on Criminal Penalties may be requested to prepare a
2020 report.
2121 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2222 enact as follows:
2323 SECTION 1. 943.87 of the statutes is amended to read:
2424 943.87 Robbery of a financial institution. Whoever by use of force or threat
