99 AN ACT to create 301.03 (17m) of the statutes; relating to: Department of
1010 Corrections reporting of complaints in state correctional institutions.
1111 Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
1212 This bill requires the Department of Corrections to establish and maintain on
1313 its website an interactive reporting system that is updated every 72 hours and that
1414 reports all of the following complaint data for each state correctional institution:
1515 1. The total number of complaints filed in the current calendar year.
1616 2. For every complaint filed, all complaint data, disaggregated, in a format that
1717 is searchable by each category of information contained in the complaint and that
1818 does not contain any personally identifying information for an inmate or employee
1919 of the state correctional institution.
2020 The reporting system must be established within six months of the bill's
2121 passage.
2222 For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
2323 an appendix to this bill.
2424 The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
2525 enact as follows:
2626 SECTION 1. 301.03 (17m) of the statutes is created to read:

3232 301.03 (17m) Establish and maintain on the department's website an
3333 interactive reporting system that is updated no less frequently than every 72 hours
3434 and that reports all of the following for each state correctional institution:
3535 (a) The total number of complaints filed about that state correctional
3636 institution in the current calendar year.
3737 (b) For every complaint filed about the state correctional institution, all
3838 complaint data, disaggregated, in a format that is searchable by each category of
3939 information contained in the complaint and that does not contain any personally
4040 identifying information for an inmate or employee of the state correctional
4141 institution.
4242 SECTION 2.0Nonstatutory provisions.
4343 (1) The reporting system required under s. 301.03 (17m) shall be operable by
4444 no later than the first day of the 7th month beginning after the effective date of this
4545 subsection.
