AN ACT to create 301.03 (17m) of the statutes; relating to: Department of
Corrections reporting of complaints in state correctional institutions.

This bill requires the Department of Corrections to establish and maintain on
its website an interactive reporting system that is updated every 72 hours and that
reports all of the following complaint data for each state correctional institution:
1. The total number of complaints filed in the current calendar year.
2. For every complaint filed, all complaint data, disaggregated, in a format that
is searchable by each category of information contained in the complaint and that
does not contain any personally identifying information for an inmate or employee
of the state correctional institution.
The reporting system must be established within six months of the bill's
passage.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SECTION 1.  301.03 (17m) of the statutes is created to read:

301.03 (17m) Establish and maintain on the department's website an
interactive reporting system that is updated no less frequently than every 72 hours
and that reports all of the following for each state correctional institution:
(a) The total number of complaints filed about that state correctional
institution in the current calendar year.
(b) For every complaint filed about the state correctional institution, all
complaint data, disaggregated, in a format that is searchable by each category of
information contained in the complaint and that does not contain any personally
identifying information for an inmate or employee of the state correctional
institution.
SECTION 2.0Nonstatutory provisions.
(1) The reporting system required under s. 301.03 (17m) shall be operable by
no later than the first day of the 7th month beginning after the effective date of this
subsection.
