2023 - 2024 LEGISLATURE
2023 SENATE BILL 820
December 19, 2023 - Introduced by Senators JACQUE, CABRAL-GUEVARA and TAYLOR,

Referred to Committee on Universities and Revenue.
***AUTHORS SUBJECT TO CHANGE***
AN ACT to amend 36.27 (3n) (b) 3. and 38.24 (7) (b) 3. of the statutes; relating
to: the age of eligibility for children of veterans eligible to receive state higher
education benefits.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a child of an eligible veteran that is between the ages of 17
and 26 may receive 128 credits or 8 semesters of tuition remission at University of
Wisconsin System institutions or state technical colleges. This bill reduces the
minimum age at which such an individual may receive the tuition remission from 17
to 15 years of age.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SECTION 1. 36.27 (3n) (b) 3. of the statutes is amended to read:
