1414 Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
1515 This bill changes the membership of the Wisconsin Artistic Endowment
1616 Foundation and makes various changes to WAEF and the Wisconsin regranting
1717 program administered by the Arts Board. WAEF is a nonprofit corporation created
1818 by 2001 Wisconsin Act 16 to support arts programs through tax deductible
1919 contributions. The WAEF is currently inactive.
2020 Current law provides that WAEF's board of directors is to be composed of 14
2121 members: eight nominees of the governor, two representatives to the assembly, two
2222 senators, the chairperson of the Arts Board or his or her designee, and the executive
2323 secretary of the Arts Board, as a nonvoting member. The bill changes the
2424 composition of the board of directors to four nominees of the governor, four
2525 representatives to the assembly, four senators, the chairperson of the Arts Board or
2626 his or her designee; and the executive secretary of the Arts Board, as a nonvoting
2727 member. Under the bill, all of those appointments must be made on or before July
2828 1, 2024.
2929 Under current law, WAEF may distribute moneys from the artistic endowment
3030 fund to the Wisconsin regranting program, which is administered by the Arts Board
3131 to award grants to local arts agencies and municipalities. Under current law, a
3232 recipient of a grant under the program must make a matching fund contribution
