1313 Relating to: proclaiming March 31, 2023, as Wisconsin's Transgender Day of
1414 Visibility.
1515 Whereas, International Transgender Day of Visibility, which occurs annually
1616 on March 31, is a day set aside to acknowledge, celebrate, and elevate transgender
1717 and nonbinary people across the world and here in Wisconsin; and
1818 Whereas, transgender and nonbinary individuals have achieved many great
1919 successes in fighting discrimination and continue in their efforts towards equality
2020 and fairness by combating indignity with dignity; and
2121 Whereas, the stories of our transgender and nonbinary neighbors show us that
2222 perseverance can lead to systemic change and better conditions for all; and
2323 Whereas, transgender and nonbinary Wisconsinites work hard to help other
2424 transgender and nonbinary people acquire access to health care, to improve others'
2525 mental and physical well-being, to raise awareness of issues affecting
2626 gender-nonconforming people of color, and to prevent the spread of HIV and AIDS;

4646 Whereas, transgender and nonbinary Wisconsinites in the armed forces serve
4747 our country with bravery and work to improve civil rights and health care for other
4848 transgender and nonbinary military service members; and
4949 Whereas, transgender and nonbinary elected officials and candidates for office
5050 provide examples of courage and confidence in pursuing their values through
5151 political engagement and encouraging others to do so as well; and
5252 Whereas, transgender and nonbinary performers bring authenticity to the
5353 stage and screen and demonstrate the importance of representation by sharing their
5454 lived experiences; and
5555 Whereas, transgender and nonbinary Wisconsinites advocate for others by
5656 creating resources, trainings, and outreach materials to improve the visibility and
5757 inclusion of the transgender and nonbinary community, as well as helping others
5858 access and navigate gender-affirming services; and
5959 Whereas, Diverse and Resilient, FORGE, SHEBA, the Wisconsin Transgender
6060 Health Coalition, GSAFE, the Human Rights Campaign, Fair Wisconsin, and other
6161 organizations across our state have dedicated their efforts to supporting the
6262 transgender and nonbinary community, showing the strength of collective action and
6363 building a more inclusive Wisconsin; and
6464 Whereas, everyone has a role to play in making our communities places where
6565 transgender and nonbinary people are welcomed and supported and have the
6666 opportunity to thrive; and
6767 Whereas, our transgender and nonbinary neighbors in Wisconsin have shown
6868 great strength in the face of adversity and empower others to explore and embrace
6969 their full selves by living their truth; now, therefore, be it
