1212 Relating to: proclaiming October 2023 as Manufacturing Month.
1313 Whereas, the manufacturing sector in Wisconsin is a major contributor to the
1414 economic engine of the state, providing over $68 billion per year in economic output,
1515 or 20 percent of the state's total gross domestic product; and
1616 Whereas, the manufacturing sector in Wisconsin employs nearly one in six
1717 workers in the state through roughly 92,000 companies; and
1818 Whereas, Wisconsin proudly leads the nation as a top state in manufacturing
1919 jobs per capita, according to the most recent U.S. Census data; and
2020 Whereas, Wisconsin's manufacturing sector has remained robust and resilient,
2121 creating a total of 9,300 new manufacturing jobs in the past year alone; and
2222 Whereas, Wisconsin continues to support its manufacturing sectors by
2323 investing in programs to help the manufacturing sector succeed and expand the
2424 talent pipeline, including supporting programs like registered and youth
2525 apprenticeships, which provide on-the-job training, as well supporting programs to
2626 encourage more youth to consider a career in manufacturing; and

4545 Whereas, October provides an opportunity for the state to celebrate the success
4646 of our state's manufacturing industry while also promoting and showcasing the
4747 rewarding jobs in Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it
4848 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
4949 Legislature hereby recognizes October 2023 as Manufacturing Month.
