15	15	Relating to: celebrating 50 years of strength and resilience of the Hmong, Lao,
16	16	Cambodian, and Vietnamese people.
17	17	Whereas, 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of the Vietnam
18	18	War and the Secret War in Laos, conflicts that significantly impacted the lives of
19	19	millions in Southeast Asia; and
20	20	Whereas, 2025 also marks the 50th anniversary of the Fall of Phnom Penh in
21	21	Cambodia in 1975; and
22	22	Whereas, in the aftermath of these events, a substantial number of
23	23	individuals of diverse ethnicity from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam sought refuge
24	24	and resettled in the United States, enriching our nation with their diverse cultures,
25	25	traditions, and contributions; and
26	26	Whereas, such communities largely resettled in Wisconsin, overcoming
27	27	adversity to establish vibrant communities that have significantly contributed to
28	28	the social, cultural, and economic fabric of our state; and

44	44	Whereas, Wisconsin is now home to the third-largest Hmong population in the
45	45	United States, with communities thriving in cities like Appleton, Sheboygan, Green
46	46	Bay, Wausau, and Milwaukee; and
47	47	Whereas, it is fitting and proper to honor and commemorate the enduring
48	48	strength, cultural heritage, and contributions of these Southeast Asian American
49	49	communities on this significant anniversary; now, therefore, be it
50	50	Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of
51	51	the Wisconsin Legislature honor the resilience of Southeast Asian American
52	52	communities by commemorating the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of the
53	53	Vietnam War, the conclusion of the Secret War in Laos, and the Fall of Phnom Penh
54	54	in Cambodia in 1975.
