Relating to: celebrating 50 years of strength and resilience of the Hmong, Lao, 
Cambodian, and Vietnamese people.
Whereas, 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of the Vietnam 
War and the Secret War in Laos, conflicts that significantly impacted the lives of 
millions in Southeast Asia; and
Whereas, 2025 also marks the 50th anniversary of the Fall of Phnom Penh in 
Cambodia in 1975; and
Whereas, in the aftermath of these events, a substantial number of 
individuals of diverse ethnicity from Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam sought refuge 
and resettled in the United States, enriching our nation with their diverse cultures, 
traditions, and contributions; and
Whereas, such communities largely resettled in Wisconsin, overcoming 
adversity to establish vibrant communities that have significantly contributed to 
the social, cultural, and economic fabric of our state; and

Whereas, Wisconsin is now home to the third-largest Hmong population in the 
United States, with communities thriving in cities like Appleton, Sheboygan, Green 
Bay, Wausau, and Milwaukee; and
Whereas, it is fitting and proper to honor and commemorate the enduring 
strength, cultural heritage, and contributions of these Southeast Asian American 
communities on this significant anniversary; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of 
the Wisconsin Legislature honor the resilience of Southeast Asian American 
communities by commemorating the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of the 
Vietnam War, the conclusion of the Secret War in Laos, and the Fall of Phnom Penh 
in Cambodia in 1975.
