| 10 | 10 | | Whereas, Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) are a group of 13 inherited |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | connective tissue disorders that together affect 1 in 5,000 people. Each type of EDS |

| 12 | 12 | | has its own set of symptoms, but some features are seen across all types of EDS, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | including overly flexible joints, hyperextensible skin, and fragile body tissues; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Whereas, hypermobility spectrum disorders (HSD) are inherited connective |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | tissue disorders similar to EDS that cause overly flexible and unstable joints, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | injury, and pain; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Whereas, persons with EDS and HSD often have fatigue, headaches, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | gastrointestinal problems, abnormal blood pressure and heart rate, and other |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | symptoms that interfere with function and quality of life; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Whereas, there is no cure for any type of EDS or HSD. The conditions are |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | managed by addressing a person[s symptoms. EDS and HSD can cause a variety of |

| 41 | 41 | | across the world stands in the way of the diagnosis, management, and research of |

| 43 | 43 | | Whereas, awareness of EDS and HSD by both medical professionals and the |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | general public can help improve the lives of people living with EDS and HSD in |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | Wisconsin; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That Wisconsin hereby |
|---|
| 47 | 47 | | declares May 2025 as Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes and Hypermobility Spectrum |
