1010 Whereas, healthy vision is essential to overall well-being and enables
1111 individuals to fully participate in daily activities, education, work, and recreation;

1313 Whereas, millions of individuals worldwide experience vision impairment or
1414 blindness, many of which cases could be prevented or treated with proper
1515 awareness, early detection, and access to care; and
1616 Whereas, eye health conditions such as amblyopia, cataracts, glaucoma,
1717 macular degeneration, and refractive errors continue to affect individuals of all
1818 ages, underscoring the need for education and proactive measures; and
1919 Whereas, the month of May provides an opportunity to raise public awareness
2020 about the importance of protecting eyesight, promoting regular eye exams, and
2121 supporting research and initiatives to improve eye health; and
2222 Whereas, organizations, health care professionals, and communities are

3838 committed to reducing vision loss through prevention, treatment, and advocacy
3939 efforts; now, therefore, be it
4040 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
4141 Legislature hereby proclaims May as Eye Health Awareness Month; and, be it
4242 further
4343 Resolved, That the Wisconsin Legislature encourages all residents to
4444 prioritize their eye health by scheduling regular eye exams, adopting protective
4545 measures such as wearing sunglasses, and learning about the risks and symptoms
4646 of eye conditions; and, be it further
4747 Resolved, That the Wisconsin Legislature calls upon public and private
4848 entities to join in this observance by promoting education and providing resources.
