2025 SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 51
May 9, 2025 - Introduced by Senators JACQUE, ROYS, RATCLIFF and SPREITZER, 
cosponsored by Representatives GOEBEN, O'CONNOR, MURPHY, GOODWIN, 
SUBECK, MIRESSE, SINICKI, JOERS, ORTIZ-VELEZ, PHELPS, ROE and MADISON. 
Referred to Committee on Senate Organization.
Relating to: declaring May as Eye Health Awareness Month.
Whereas, healthy vision is essential to overall well-being and enables 
individuals to fully participate in daily activities, education, work, and recreation; 
and
Whereas, millions of individuals worldwide experience vision impairment or 
blindness, many of which cases could be prevented or treated with proper 
awareness, early detection, and access to care; and
Whereas, eye health conditions such as amblyopia, cataracts, glaucoma, 
macular degeneration, and refractive errors continue to affect individuals of all 
ages, underscoring the need for education and proactive measures; and
Whereas, the month of May provides an opportunity to raise public awareness 
about the importance of protecting eyesight, promoting regular eye exams, and 
supporting research and initiatives to improve eye health; and
Whereas, organizations, health care professionals, and communities are

committed to reducing vision loss through prevention, treatment, and advocacy 
efforts; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin 
Legislature hereby proclaims May as Eye Health Awareness Month; and, be it 
further
Resolved, That the Wisconsin Legislature encourages all residents to 
prioritize their eye health by scheduling regular eye exams, adopting protective 
measures such as wearing sunglasses, and learning about the risks and symptoms 
of eye conditions; and, be it further
Resolved, That the Wisconsin Legislature calls upon public and private 
entities to join in this observance by promoting education and providing resources.
