32 | 32 | | 9 W.S. 14-11-102(a)(vii). |

34 | 34 | | 11 (b) The department of family services shall establish |
---|
35 | 35 | | 12 and administer a grant program for the purpose of providing |
---|
36 | 36 | | 13 grants for safe haven providers to purchase newborn safety |
---|
37 | 37 | | 14 devices. The safe haven providers that receive grants under |
---|
38 | 38 | | 15 this act shall manage the newborn safety devices. Each safe |
---|
39 | 39 | | 16 haven provider shall receive not more than one (1) grant |
---|
40 | 40 | | 17 and one (1) newborn safety device. |

42 | 42 | | 19 (c) The department of family services shall develop |
---|
43 | 43 | | 20 an application process for safe haven providers to apply |
---|
44 | 44 | | 21 for and receive grants to purchase newborn safety devices |

45 | 45 | | 22 and shall review applications to determine eligibility. Any |

50 | 50 | | 4 (d) The temporary grant program shall terminate June |

51 | 51 | | 5 30, 2026. Applications shall be received not later than |
---|
52 | 52 | | 6 March 1, 2026. No grants shall be awarded under this |

53 | 53 | | 7 section after June 30, 2026. |

55 | 55 | | 9 There is appropriated three hundred |
---|
56 | 56 | | 10 thousand dollars ($300,000.00) from the general fund to the |
---|
57 | 57 | | 11 department of family services for purposes of implementing |
---|
58 | 58 | | 12 this act. This appropriation shall be for the period |
---|
59 | 59 | | 13 beginning July 1, 2025 and ending June 30, 2026. This |
---|
60 | 60 | | 14 appropriation shall only be used to make grants to safe |
---|
61 | 61 | | 15 haven providers to purchase newborn safety devices, except |
---|
62 | 62 | | 16 that not more than one percent (1%) of this appropriation |
---|
63 | 63 | | 17 may be used for administrative expenses incurred pursuant |
---|
64 | 64 | | 18 to this act. This appropriation shall not be transferred or |
---|
65 | 65 | | 19 expended for any other purpose and any unexpended, |
---|
66 | 66 | | 20 unobligated funds remaining from this appropriation on June |
---|
67 | 67 | | 21 30, 2026 shall revert as provided by law. |

74 | 74 | | 7 this section, this act is effective July 1, 2025. |

77 | 77 | | 10 immediately upon completion of all acts necessary for a |
