A BILL
for
1 AN ACT relating to crimes and offenses; prohibiting the 
2 employment of unauthorized aliens as specified; specifying 
3 penalties; and providing for an effective date.

7.  W.S. 6-7-201 is created to read:

14 2025STATE OF WYOMING25LSO-04672HB01631 (a)  No person shall employ or otherwise contract for 
2 services with a person who:
3
4 (i)  Is or becomes unlawfully present in the 
5 United States in violation of federal law; or
6
7 (ii)  Is not or becomes not lawfully authorized 
8 to work in the United States in violation of federal law.

10 (b)  A person who violates subsection (a) of this 
11 section is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of:
12
13 (i)  One thousand dollars ($1,000.00) for a first 
14 offense under this section;
15
16 (ii)  Five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) for a 
17 second or subsequent offense under this section.

19 (c)  For purposes of this section:

21 (i)  The prohibition of subsection (a) of this 
22 section shall not apply to any employed or contracted

1 authorization to be present and work in the United States 
2 that is valid and current;

4 (ii)  Any employer who employs or contracts for 
5 services with workers who are or were lawfully present but 
6 who are acting in accordance with federal law to renew or 
7 continue their lawful status shall not be subject to the 
8 prohibition in subsection (a) of this section; 
9
10 (iii)  Each person who is employed, contracted 
11 with or continued to be employed in violation under 
12 subsection (a) of this section shall constitute a separate 
13 offense.

15.  This act is effective July 1, 2025
