Sponsored by: Representative(s) Larsen, L and Nicholas and Senator(s) Dockstader and Landen A BILL for 1 AN ACT relating to the University of Wyoming; providing an 2 appropriation; authorizing expansion of the course of 3 training and education offered in the field of medicine as 4 specified; and providing for an effective date. 5 6 7 8. 9 10 (a) There is appropriated two million one hundred 11 seventy-six thousand three hundred thirteen dollars 12 ($2,176,313.00) from the general fund to the University of 13 Wyoming for purposes of providing medical education under 14 this section. Not more than fifty-three thousand eighty-one 15 dollars ($53,081.00) of this appropriation shall be 2025STATE OF WYOMING25LSO-06242HB0231 1 expended for administrative costs incurred by the 2 University of Wyoming in providing medical education under 3 this section. This appropriation shall be for the period 4 beginning with the effective date of this section and 5 ending June 30, 2029. This appropriation shall not be 6 transferred or expended for any other purpose. 7 Notwithstanding W.S. 9-2-1008, 9-2-1012(e) and 9-4-207, any 8 unexpended, unobligated funds from this appropriation shall 9 revert as provided by law on June 30, 2028. It is the 10 intent of the legislature that this appropriation be 11 doubled and included in the University of Wyoming's 12 standard budget for the immediately succeeding fiscal 13 biennium. 14 15 (b) The board of trustees of the University of 16 Wyoming is authorized to expand the course of training and 17 education offered by the university in the field of 18 medicine under a contract with the university of Utah 19 school of medicine as specified in subsection (c) of this 20 section and in accordance with W.S. 21-17-109. 21 2025STATE OF WYOMING25LSO-06243HB02311 (c) Medical training and education offered by the 2 University of Wyoming under a contract with the university 3 of Utah shall be subject to all of the following: 4 5 (i) Medical education shall be available for not 6 more than five (5) Wyoming resident students for a period 7 of four (4) years, commencing with academic year 2025‑2026; 8 9 (ii) The board of trustees of the University of 10 Wyoming shall obtain agreements from each student as 11 required by W.S. 21-17-109(d); 12 13 (iii) Medical education shall be subject to all 14 requirements of W.S. 21-17-109. 15 16. This act is effective immediately upon 17 completion of all acts necessary for a bill to become law 18 as provided by Article 4, Section 8 of the Wyoming 19 Constitution. 20 (END)
