13 Relating to Houston County; to amend Section
14 45-35-83.01, Code of Alabama 1975, to provide further for the
15 compensation of the judge of probate.
16 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA:
17 Section 1. Section 45-35-83.01, Code of Alabama
18 1975, is amended to read as follows:
19 "ยง45-35-83.01.
20 "(a)(1) Beginning on June 1, 2015 the effective date
21 of the act amending this section, the Judge of Probate of
22 Houston County shall receive an annual salary of one hundred
23 five thousand dollars ($105,000). Notwithstanding Chapter 2A
24 of Title 11, the judge of probate shall be eligible for any
25 cost of living increase afforded to all county employees equal
26 to the state salary paid to a district judge, and shall be
27 entitled to any increases in salary in the same amount and
Page 1 1 same manner as a district judge possessing the same number of
2 cumulative years of service as the probate judge at that time
3 possesses.
4 "(2) The salary provided by this section shall be in
5 lieu of any and all other prior compensation or income, not
6 including any expense allowance, provided by law for the judge
7 of probate, and shall be paid in equal periodic installments
8 from the general fund of the county.
9 "(b) In order to receive the compensation provided
10 under subsection (a), the judge of probate shall waive any
11 compensation provided under Section 17-3-60, relating to
12 reports from the state voter registration list."
13 Section 2. This act shall become effective on the
14 first day of the first month following its passage and
15 approval by the Governor, or its otherwise becoming law.
