65- Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona: Section 1. Title 41, chapter 1, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 41-181, to read: START_STATUTE41-181. County sheriffs search and rescue equipment fund A. The county sheriffs search and rescue equipment fund is established consisting of legislative appropriations. The state treasurer shall administer the fund. MOnies in the fund are subject to legislative appropriations. B. Beginning in fiscal year 2023-2024 and each fiscal year thereafter, The state treasurer shall distribute monies from the fund to county sheriffs offices for search and rescue related equipment to enhance the sheriffs' search and rescue mission capabilities as follows: 1. Cochise county, not more than eighteen percent. 2. coconino county, not more than twenty-one percent. 3. gila county, not more than two and one-half percent. 4. Greenlee County, not more than one-half percent. 5. Mohave county, not more than twenty-one percent. 6. Navajo county, not more than one-half percent. 7. Pinal county, not more than twenty-two percent. 8. Yavapai county, not more than thirteen and one-half percent. 9. For Apache, Graham, La Paz, Maricopa, Pima, Santa Cruz and Yuma counties, not more than a total of one percent distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. C. Unexpended monies remaining at the end of the fiscal year are considered part of the total fund balance for the following fiscal year and are available for redistribution based on the percentages listed in subsection B of this section.END_STATUTE Sec. 2. Appropriation; county sheriffs search and rescue equipment fund; exemption A. The sum of $1,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2023-2024 to the county sheriffs search and rescue equipment fund established by section 41-181, Arizona Revised Statutes, as added by this act, and is appropriated from the county sheriffs search and rescue equipment fund to the state treasurer. B. The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provisions of section 35-190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
