In addition to the districts authority to perform maintenance as defined in Section 5835.3 of the Streets and Highways Code, the Landscaping and Lighting District of the City of La Puente may also perform maintenance and make improvements pursuant to Sections 22525 and 22531 of the Streets and Highways Code.SEC. 2. The Legislature finds and declares that a special statute is necessary and that a general statute cannot be made applicable within the meaning of Section 16 of Article IV of the California Constitution because of the unique need to perform immediate maintenance and make improvements by the Landscaping and Lighting District of the City of La Puente.SEC. 3. This act is an urgency statute necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety within the meaning of Article IV of the California Constitution and shall go into immediate effect. The facts constituting the necessity are:In order for the Landscaping and Lighting District of the City of La Puente to utilize seven million dollars ($7,000,000) that was granted to the district in October, 2016, it is necessary for this act take immediate effect.
