The bill transfers $26 million from the General Fund to the Department of Public Safety 
for the purchase of a Firehawk helicopter configured for wildfire and other public safety 
response needs.  The bill increases expenditures in FY 2023-24

No appropriation is required. Transferred funds are continuously appropriated to the 
Department of Public Safety.

Summary of Legislation 
The bill requires that the state treasurer transfer $26.0 from the General Fund to the Colorado 
Firefighting Air Corps Fund in the Division of Fire Prevention and Control in the Department of Public 
Safety.  The division must use the transferred funds to purchase a fire hawk helicopter configured for 
wildfire and other public safety response needs. 
State Expenditures 
In FY 2023-24, the DPS will spend the transferred $26.0 million on purchasing a fire hawk helicopter.   
Effective Date 
The bill takes effect upon signature of the Governor, or upon becoming law without his signature.
