House Bill No. 7402 Public Act No. 19-1 AN ACT CONCERNING FU NDING FOR ASSISTANCE TO PERSONS DISPLACED BY HURRICANE MARIA. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. Section 19 of public act 18-81 is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective from passage): The following sums appropriated in section 1 of public act 17-2 of the June special session, as amended by section 16 of public act 17-4 of the June special session, section 1 of public act 17-1 of the January special session and section 1 of [this act] public act 18-81, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019, shall be for the purpose of providing assistance to persons residing in the state who were displaced by Hurricane Maria as follows: (1) $400,000 to the Department of Education, for Bilingual Education, to be distributed to the top six school districts with the largest concentration of Hurricane Maria evacuees; (2) $600,000 to the Department of Housing, for Housing/Homeless Services, to fund security deposits and first month rent to those evacuees impacted by Hurricane Maria; and (3) $500,000 to the Department of Social Services, for Human Resour ce Development-Hispanic Programs, as follows: $90,000 to the Hispanic Coalition Inc. in Waterbury, $90,000 to Junta For Progressive Action in New Haven, $90,000 to Family Resource Center in Hartford for House Bill No. 7402 Public Act No. 19-1 2 of 2 Hartford Public Schools - The Welcome Center, $90,000 to Caribe Youth Leaders in [Waterbury] Bridgeport, $40,000 to Casa Boricua in Meriden, $40,000 to Human Resource Agency of New Britain Inc. in New Britain, $40,000 to YMCA of Greater Hartford, Larson Center and $20,000 to Thames Valley Council for Community Action in New London.
