AN ACT PERMITTING CERTAIN BOARDS OF EDUCATION TO TUITION-OUT ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF REDUCING COSTS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 170 of the general statutes be amended to permit a local 1 or regional board of education that experiences a decline in student 2 enrollment to close one or more of its elementary or middle schools and 3 to enter into agreements with other boards of education to pay tuition 4 to such other boards to enroll its students in schools under the 5 jurisdiction of such other boards. 6 Statement of Purpose: To afford school districts with diminishing student populations the option to voluntarily share services and reduce costs by allowing school districts to tuition-out their elementary and middle school students to other school districts.
