AN ACT ENSURING FAIR EMPLOYEE PROTECTIONS FOR GIG
WORKERS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to update the classification of 1
Connecticut workers belonging to the "gig economy", such as internet-2
based food delivery drivers or ridesharing service providers, who may 3
be improperly classified as independent contractors. Such amendment 4
would prevent companies with alternative business models from 5
improperly classifying employees as independent contractors. 6
Statement of Purpose:
To update and modernize the classification of Connecticut's gig
workforce, so that all Connecticut workers have fair treatment under the
law and to provide Connecticut with the updated and proper
framework for employee protections in the modern economy.
