1420 AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF GIG WORKERS .
1521 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
1622 Assembly convened:

18-Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Labor Commissioner shall, in 1
19-consultation with gig workers and other stakeholders and the 2
20-chairpersons of the joint standing committee of the General Assembly 3
21-having cognizance of matters relating to labor, conduct a study of gig 4
22-workers in this state. 5
23-(b) Not later than January 1, 2022, the commissioner shall report the 6
24-results of the study, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a 7
25-of the general statutes, to the joint standing committee of the General 8
26-Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to labor. Such report 9
27-shall include recommendations for legislation regarding gig workers. 10

26+Yale Law School: (1) Conduct a study of gig workers in this state, 3
27+including, but not limited to, internet-based food delivery drivers and 4
28+ridesharing service providers, and (2) make recommendations for 5
29+legislation to prevent companies from improperly classifying such 6
30+workers as independent contractors instead of employees. 7
31+(b) Not later than January 1, 2022, the commissioner shall report the 8
