14	20		AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF GIG WORKERS .
15	21		Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
16	22		Assembly convened:

18		-	Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Labor Commissioner shall, in 1
19		-	consultation with gig workers and other stakeholders and the 2
20		-	chairpersons of the joint standing committee of the General Assembly 3
21		-	having cognizance of matters relating to labor, conduct a study of gig 4
22		-	workers in this state. 5
23		-	(b) Not later than January 1, 2022, the commissioner shall report the 6
24		-	results of the study, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a 7
25		-	of the general statutes, to the joint standing committee of the General 8
26		-	Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to labor. Such report 9
27		-	shall include recommendations for legislation regarding gig workers. 10

	25	+	consultation with the Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic at 2
	26	+	Yale Law School: (1) Conduct a study of gig workers in this state, 3
	27	+	including, but not limited to, internet-based food delivery drivers and 4
	28	+	ridesharing service providers, and (2) make recommendations for 5
	29	+	legislation to prevent companies from improperly classifying such 6
	30	+	workers as independent contractors instead of employees. 7
	31	+	(b) Not later than January 1, 2022, the commissioner shall report the 8
	32	+	results of the study, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a 9
	33	+	of the general statutes, to the joint standing committee of the General 10
	34	+	Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to labor. 11
