AN ACT ESTABLISHING A WORKING GROUP TO STUDY THE CIVIL 
LAWS OF THIS STATE.  
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General 
Assembly convened: 
 
Section 1. (Effective from passage) There is established a working group 1 
to study the civil laws of this state. Such study shall include, but not be 2 
limited to, a review of provisions set forth in various titles of the general 3 
statutes, including, but not limited to, titles 51 and 52 of the general 4 
statutes, for the purpose of recommending needed changes to such 5 
provisions of the general statutes. The working group shall consist of 6 
the following members, who have familiarity with and expertise in the 7 
interpretation of the state's civil laws: (1) One appointed by the speaker 8 
of the House of Representatives; (2) one appointed by the president pro 9 
tempore of the Senate; (3) one appointed by the majority leader of the 10 
House of Representatives; (4) one appointed by the majority leader of 11 
the Senate; (5) one appointed by the minority leader of the House of 12 
Representatives; and (6) one appointed by the minority leader of the 13 
Senate. Not later than January 1, 2026, the working group shall submit 14 
a report on its findings and recommendations to the joint standing 15 
committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters 16  Raised Bill No. 1548

relating to the judiciary, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-17 
4a of the general statutes. The working group shall terminate on the date 18 
that it submits such report or January 1, 2026, whichever is later. 19 
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following 
sections:
