1515 An act relating to mobile home registration periods; 2
1616 amending s. 320.055, F.S.; revising the registration 3
1717 and registration renewal periods for a mobile home 4
18-owned by a natural person; requiring the Department of 5
19-Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, beginning on a 6
20-specified date, to give customers the option to renew 7
21-their registrations on their dates of birth in certain 8
22-years; specifying permissible renewal peri ods for such 9
23-renewals; providing an effective date. 10

25-Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12

27- Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) and subsection 14
28-(2) of section 320.055, Florida Statutes, are amended to read: 15
29- 320.055 Registration periods; renewal periods. —The 16
30-following registration periods and renewal periods are 17
31-established: 18
32- (1)(a) For a motor vehicle subject to registration under 19
33-s. 320.08(1), (2), (3), (4)(a) or (b), (5)(b), (c), (d), or (f), 20
34-(6)(a), (7), (8), (9), or (10), or (11) and owned by a natural 21
35-person, the registration period begins the first day of the 22
36-birth month of the owner and ends the last day of the month 23
37-immediately preceding the owner's birth month in the succeeding 24
38-year. If such vehicle is registered in the name of more than one 25
18+owned by a natural person; providing an effective 5

21+Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 8

51-person, the birth month of the person whose name first appears 26

53-period. For a vehicle subject to this registration period, the 28
54-renewal period is the 30 -day period ending at midnight on the 29
55-vehicle owner's date of birth. 30
56- (2) For a vehicle subject to registration under s. 31
57-320.08(11) and not owned by a natural person , the registration 32
58-period begins January 1 and ends December 31. For a vehicle 33
59-subject to this registr ation period, the renewal period is the 34
60-31-day period before prior to expiration. 35
61- Section 2. Beginning September 1, 2023, in order to 36
62-implement the amendment made by this act to s. 320.055, Florida 37
63-Statutes, the Department of Highway Safety and Motor V ehicles 38
64-shall give customers the option to renew their registrations on 39
65-their dates of birth in 2024 or 2025. Customers whose dates of 40
66-birth occur in the months of January through June may choose to 41
67-renew for 1 to 18 months. Customers whose dates of birth occur 42
68-in the months of July through December may choose to renew for 7 43
69-to 24 months. 44
70- Section 3. This act shall take effect September 1, 2023. 45
