A bill to be entitled 1
An act relating to mobile home registration periods; 2
amending s. 320.055, F.S.; revising the registration 3
and registration renewal periods for a mobile home 4
owned by a natural person; requiring the Department of 5
Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, beginning on a 6
specified date, to give customers the option to renew 7
their registrations on their dates of birth in certain 8
years; specifying permissible renewal peri ods for such 9
renewals; providing an effective date. 10

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 12

Section 1. Paragraph (a) of subsection (1) and subsection 14
(2) of section 320.055, Florida Statutes, are amended to read: 15
320.055 Registration periods; renewal periods. —The 16
following registration periods and renewal periods are 17
established: 18
(1)(a) For a motor vehicle subject to registration under 19
s. 320.08(1), (2), (3), (4)(a) or (b), (5)(b), (c), (d), or (f), 20
(6)(a), (7), (8), (9), or (10), or (11) and owned by a natural 21
person, the registration period begins the first day of the 22
birth month of the owner and ends the last day of the month 23
immediately preceding the owner's birth month in the succeeding 24
year. If such vehicle is registered in the name of more than one 25

person, the birth month of the person whose name first appears 26
on the registration shall be used to determine the registration 27
period. For a vehicle subject to this registration period, the 28
renewal period is the 30 -day period ending at midnight on the 29
vehicle owner's date of birth. 30
(2) For a vehicle subject to registration under s. 31
320.08(11) and not owned by a natural person , the registration 32
period begins January 1 and ends December 31. For a vehicle 33
subject to this registr ation period, the renewal period is the 34
31-day period before prior to expiration. 35
Section 2. Beginning September 1, 2023, in order to 36
implement the amendment made by this act to s. 320.055, Florida 37
Statutes, the Department of Highway Safety and Motor V ehicles 38
shall give customers the option to renew their registrations on 39
their dates of birth in 2024 or 2025. Customers whose dates of 40
birth occur in the months of January through June may choose to 41
renew for 1 to 18 months. Customers whose dates of birth occur 42
in the months of July through December may choose to renew for 7 43
to 24 months. 44
Section 3. This act shall take effect September 1, 2023. 45
