An act relating to emergency medical care and 2 
treatment to minors without parental consent; amending 3 
s. 743.064, F.S.; removing the requirement that 4 
emergency medical care or treatment to a minor without 5 
parental consent be administered in a hospital or 6 
college health service; providing an effective date. 7 
 8 
Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9 
 10 
 Section 1.  Subsection (1) of s ection 743.064, Florida 11 
Statutes, is amended to read: 12 
 743.064  Emergency medical care or treatment to minors 13 
without parental consent. — 14 
 (1)  The absence of parental consent notwithstanding, a 15 
physician licensed under chapter 458 or an osteopathic physici an 16 
licensed under chapter 459 may render emergency medical care or 17 
treatment to any minor who has been injured in an accident or 18 
who is suffering from an acute illness, disease, or condition 19 
if, within a reasonable degree of medical certainty, delay in 20 
initiation or provision of emergency medical care or treatment 21 
would endanger the health or physical well -being of the minor, 22 
and provided such emergency medical care or treatment is 23 
administered in a hospital licensed by the state under chapter 24 
395 or in a college health service . Emergency medical care or 25

treatment may also be rendered in the prehospital setting by 26 
paramedics, emergency medical technicians, and other emergency 27 
medical services personnel, provided such care is rendered 28 
consistent with the provisions of chapter 401. These persons 29 
shall follow the general guidelines and notification provisions 30 
of this section. 31 
 Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2022. 32
